We all need some inspiration when cleaning, and we thought what better way than with a cleaning hero to look up to! Read on to see who we thought deserved a mention.
First and foremost, our hero and the woman we aspire to be in every way, Miss Monica Geller! We love Monica not only for nostalgic reasons (when we were teenagers she helped us nurse our hangovers every Sunday when we watched Friends re-runs on E4) but also because she is the most pernickety cleaner we can think of, we’d love for her to join our team here at T and D.
Best Moment: Who can forget “The One With the Dirty Girl” when she went around to Ross’ dirty ex-girlfriend’s apartment and offered to clean it for her…Watch it here!
AGGIE and KIM
Of course there’s also the wonderful Aggie and Kim, who front the fascinating but absolutely disgusting “How Clean is Your House”. They convinced my mum to throw out all the loo brushes in the house a few years ago (although she bought them all again 6 months later as she didn’t fancy sticking her hand down the loo to clean it!). Aggie and Kim travel around the UK cleaning up people’s houses and telling them off for being so awful and not doing any cleaning.
Best Moment: Too many to count, but this was apparently the worst flat ever… don’t watch this while eating!
Inspiring skinny and weak looking men to clean for years… Mr Muscle now uses a strong, muscly superhero for their branding, but I definitely prefer the puny chaps in their boxers and white vests! They produce great oven cleaners and have branched out further into the rest of the cleaning product world now too.
Best Moment: The original advert I come over all light-headed watching the way that oven cleaner cuts through grease… it’s on my Christmas list!
And who could forget Cinderella?! The original cleaner, whenever I have to scrub a floor by hand (luckily not too often, as we have a great little invention called “mops”) I think of myself as ‘doing a Cinderella’.
Best Moment: Showing us all how to enjoy ourselves and stay positive when cleaning (not always the easiest of jobs!)
Mrs Doubtfire played by the late Robin Williams, is the funniest of our celebrity cleaners. She does everything with a certain panache, particularly the vacuuming, as seen in her…
…Best moment: dancing with a vacuum cleaner to the very apt “Dude (looks like a lady)” by Aerosmith.
ANNE MARIE from BLUE CRUSH
A brave, ballsy surfer girl cleaning hotel rooms to make money, she perhaps doesn’t have quite the same dedication and love of cleaning as the others on the list, but the hotel room scene is hilarious!
Best Moment: Luckily we’ve never walked into a room or chalet as awful as the hotel room in Blue Crush, but if we did we might act in a similar way…
GOD (in Bruce Almighty)
Best Moment: Doing the ‘Clapper’ dance
