Spring Cleaning Light 🌸

It can be daunting to get started on Spring Cleaning your house, so we’re here to bring you a week of cleaning tips, keeping it light and easy. You can either follow the tips day by day, or save them up to power through over the weekend.

Day 1: We thought we’d ease you in gently with our first tip. Invest in a good duster, like these microfibre extendable head ones from all good stores. Getting rid of the cobwebs and dust will literally (and metaphorically!) take you into spring with a, well, SPRING in your step!

Day 2: Tackle the bathroom. It’s easy to miss things like tiles, down the side of the bath and so on so pay extra attention to bits like these. Also make sure you have the white wine vinegar to hand to remove any calcium deposits/water marks. Leave it to soak for 15 minutes and then watch the white stuff melt away when you wipe and rinse it off! Polish those taps and mirrors with a micro-fibre cloth and voila!

Day 3: Nearly half way through so let’s get the worst out of the way now… everyone’s favourite, the kitchen!

The oven is the number one appliance that people leave to get super dirty, so arm yourself with bicarbonate of soda and white wine vinegar and spread a thick paste on all the grimy bits in the oven. Leave for half an hour and wipe away. Next clean out the fridge, de-frost the freezer and put some white vinegar in the kettle to de-scale it. Put ½ water and ½ vinegar, boil and leave for 15 minutes. Rinse and make yourself a celebratory cuppa!

Day 4: Clean windows can make a room looks fantastic, so take the time to make yours sparkle today! There’s many different techniques and tools to use, we prefer hot soapy water with a microfibre cloth and squeegee to clean, then white wine vinegar and a dry microfibre to buff up any smears.

Day 5: Get out the vacuum cleaner of your choice (we are Miele lovers all the way!) and give your whole house a thorough blast. Move out every piece of furniture you can (including kitchen appliances, there’s ALWAYS broken glass under the fridge!) and get down and under the beds as well. There’s sure to be a family of dust bunnies down there! Remember this counts as a work out too so enjoy some Easter chocolate afterwards 😉

Day 6: Today is all about tidying, so de-clutter your home and start making a pile of unwanted things to take to the local charity shop. Clothes are the number one culprit and spring is the perfect time to sort through your winter clothes and look at what you haven’t worn all winter. If you haven’t needed it in 6 months, you don’t need it now!

Day 7: Finally, don’t neglect your outdoor spaces! Tidy up your garden or balcony, cut the lawn, give the paths a sweep and clean off that garden furniture.

At the end of your week of spring cleaning make sure you sit down on the sofa (or garden furniture!) and enjoy a cup of tea or glass of wine, safe in the knowledge you won’t have to spring clean again for another year!

And is this all sounds too much, then give us a call and we can come and do it all for you! Happy Easter 🐣
